Who founded the firm?
Teresa Lo Torto, admitted to the Bar in 1994, who in 1997 set up her independent practice devoted to matrimonial and family law. She has been admitted to the Supreme Court since 2016 and holds a licentiate in canon law, awarded summa cum laude in 2008. She is a member of the Venice Bar Association.
What exactly do you handle?
Family and personal law only. Separation and divorce, children and custody, de facto cohabitation, civil unions, protection of the person, succession, and offences that arise within the family. We do nothing else: it's a choice, and it's why we're quick on these matters.
How does the first consultation work?
It's there to assess the case. You tell us the situation, we read the documents you have, we tell you which routes are open and which are not. At the end you receive a written quote: you decide afterwards, with the figures in front of you. The consultation is not free and is quoted transparently.
Who actually handles my case?
One of the firm's lawyers, always the same one, from start to finish. You don't get passed between associates and you don't speak to a switchboard. At the delicate stages — hearings, negotiations, the documents that matter — Ms Lo Torto is there. It's why the firm stays small: beyond a certain number of cases that promise can't be kept.
Do you only work in Milan and Venice?
Milan is the main office and the court we appear before most often; in Venice-Mestre we receive at the Viale Ancona office. For proceedings in other venues we rely on a network of correspondents in Italy and abroad, so following you elsewhere is not a problem.
